Sleepover Friday

Madeline,
You are going to sleep over at grandma c's house on Friday. I hope that is ok with you. I know that she will spoil you rotten while you are there, and mommy and daddy will get to spend some quality time together in your absence. I feel a little guilty leaving you, but we'll have all night tonight and the rest of the week PLUS all day on Saturday and Sunday. I don't even think we have softball on Sunday. Woo hoo!

Anyhow, I'm sure you will have a great time and you will be a good girl.

I love you,
Mommy

4 Month Check-Up

You went to see Dr. Natalie on Thursday. You weighed in at 13 pounds, 11.4 ounces and are 25 inches long! You are developing perfectly. You have "excellent head control" and are doing all the things a 4 month old should be doing. You got 4 shots. You screamed bloody murder and then slept for the rest of the day.

We went to meet Aunt Becky's twins on Saturday. You looked like a giant monster next to those tiny little girls, but you were so funny. You just stared at them. We took a pic of you in the middle of them, but all you wanted to do was roll over and smash them.

Then we went to the mall. You seriously love shopping. Your face just lit up as soon as we set foot in the mall, and of course, mommy bought you a few new things :) This is probably the biggest reason I could never be a stay at home mom - we both like to shop WAY too much!!

Juicey Juice

Well, Maddy, you have entered the world of non-milk drinking. You had pear juice last night. It was so funny. When I first gave it to you, you just sipped it a little bit and really weren't interested. You fell asleep on me for about 1/2 an hour. When you woke up, I gave it back to you, and you sucked it right down. You were a thirsty little booger.

After your juice, you ate some cereal and applesauce. Then, you got a bath and had a bottle and fell asleep around 9:30. You didn't wake up until 8:00 a.m. Your daddy was a happy guy. I think I'll give you some juice again tonight - probably apple. We're having dinner at Grandma D's house, but I want to get you home early tonight to eat and get a bath. You have your 4 month check-up tomorrow and will get shots. The tears are already building up. I don't know if I can go through that again :( I'll let you know how you do.

Family Time

Maddy,
We spent the whole weekend together. It was so nice. I took you in the shower with me on Friday night - too funny. You kept sticking your arm in the stream of water and pulling it out - just laughing as the water sprayed you in the face. Of course, I didn't really get clean in this shower, but we had fun splashing around. Then, you tried squash for the first time. You actually really liked it. Here's a photo. You made a huge mess, but had fun all the while.

Saturday we went shopping at BRU and bought you some new jammies - you're too long for the 3/6 months now. We ordered pizza and watched a movie at home that night - you fell asleep on me, and I just cuddled ya for a few hours before putting you to bed.

Sunday, you got to visit with the family. Playing with grandma and grandpa.

It was a really nice weekend. Good to spend time together - just us.

My Precious Girl

Maddy,
You are so funny! Yesterday, you were in our bed with daddy when he (like always) farted. You made this funny face, and then you farted too. Never in my life before did I think a fart was cute.

Then, last night I went to grandma's to have Aunt K. alter my dress for Uncle C's wedding, and I was nervous because you had never been around Aunt K. or the cousins that were there, but you were your smiley self. You didn't cry or anything until I came back out and you saw me. So, I scooped you up and you proceeded to blabber on and on to them all. You were adorable.

When I fed you cereal last night you made some really funny faces and grabbed the spoon and tried to do it yourself. Grandma C took pics. Then you splish-splashed in the bath. You are just so precious, Madeline. I'm glad it's Friday and I have a whole weekend with you!!

Weekend Update

Maddy,
You had an action-packed weekend! Your first sleepover at Grandma D's house. You were great. She loved spending the time with you. We painted pottery - I painted your feet and we made your footprints on a plate! You and I took a nice long nap on Sunday in mommy's bed. You were so sweet - I could tell you missed me.

Grandma C was having a rash and hot flashes all weekend, and she thought it was just hormones/nerves. Wrong. Turns out she has scabies. Apparently this is highly contagious, so now, I am on the look out for the slightest indication of a rash on you. I have wash all of our sheets and towels and everything in hot water tonight. She feels so bad. She called last night crying when she told me. I really hope you don't catch it - it will itch really really bad. The bad thing is symptons sometimes don't surface for 4 weeks! So, for the next month, you will be getting extra baths and extra clean sheets and blankets just to be safe. You go to the dr. next week for your check-up and shots, so she'll check you out then too.

Missing Your Mama

Madeline,
You are rolling over any time you are put down on your back. It is so funny! You hold your head up high and have learned how to "untuck" that arm. You love moving around. You had cereal again last night - did better, less messy. Tomorrow you'll start getting cereal 2-3 times a day. We'll introduce vegetables in another week or so. I stocked up the cupboards with new things for you to try! Can't wait to see your reactions.

You were sound asleep when I left this morning. I planted a kiss on your head and pulled your blankets back up. You looked like you were having a nice dream.

I have to tell you that your daddy said something to me last night that made me want to quit my job. He said that you don't miss me during the day because you have so much fun with him. He was joking of course, but it broke my heart. I really hope you miss me. I think you do b/c I get big smiles and even hugs now when I come home, but I can't be sure. So, as soon as you are able to talk to me - you better tell me that you miss me when I'm at work. It would really make me feel better. Can't wait to come home to see you today!

Love ya,
Mom

Absolutely Amazing

Madeline,
You are absolutely amazing to me. I can't get enough of you. Your smiles, your laughs, even your endless stream of drool. I can't wait to come home and see your happy little face. You woke up this morning when I was getting ready, so I got to feed you and hold you for a little while. Usually, if you are still sleeping, I just come in and stand over your crib for a few minutes each morning - blow you kisses and hold back some tears as I head out the door. You are so beautiful! You look like your dad when you're sleeping, but as soon as you open your big blue eyes, you look just like me! You have his chin, toes and ears, but you have my eyes, nose and smile. You are rolling over routinely now and have become best friends with your puppy, Mugsy. You are learning how to grab things and hold onto them, but everything goes into your mouth. You are constantly sucking on your hands, which some family members say is because you're teething and others say is just because you can... the jury is still out. The Itsy Bitsy Spider is your favorite song, but you prefer the rock n' roll version that is on the CD in your room to your dad's singing. You are the reason I was born and the reason your dad and I were meant to survive the last 10 years together. You are perfect. You are amazing, and I simply can't believe you are my daughter!

Cereal Mess

We have officially entered the world of solid foods. I put you in the high chair and fed you two tablespoons of cereal. You loved it! Made a big mess and even got it up your nose, but you liked it and did very well in the high chair. I let you play with the spoon for a little bit when we were done and you discovered the tray in front of you - sat the spoon on it and just stared for a little bit. For this week, I'll give ya a little bit of cereal each night before your bath and late night bottle. Next week, we'll move to two times a week and then it will be time for the 4 month check-up and we'll see what Dr. Natalies recommends from there. I will post some pics as soon as I find time to unload my digital camera - maybe next week.

Ready for Cereal

You are going to start cereal tonight. You'll be four months old next week, and are totally ready. You are almost sitting up on your own - definitely sitting with help, and you are constantly drooling, which I read is a sign that your body is producing enough saliva to break down solid foods. So, tonight we are going to bust out the high chair and start ya on cereal. I'm excited for you to experience new foods and can't wait to see your reactions to things. You are so funny now - to watch you concentrate so hard on things, it is just amazing!

You are such a happy baby - it makes me feel so great. You are totally getting into a routine for bed and everything - ready to zonk out around 9:00 now and sleep totally through the night. You are so sweet and lovable. The past couple of days, you are just all about cuddling with me - hugging, and ya like when I put my cheek up against yours. You definitely know and love your momma and daddy. I just wish I could be home with you everyday. I miss you so much all the time that I'm at work. I don't ever want to put ya down when I get home, and I hate when we have things going on during the week!

Little Fishy

You are a little fish! You love the water. We took you swimming at Grandma Cathy's pool yesterday, and ya just loved it. "Talking" and splashing. You were so cute in your little bikini. We took lots of pictures - I'll post them ASAP.

The Drool Monster

In the past week or so, you have discovered your hands and started drooling like a mad fiend. Last night I took you to a stamping meeting with me, and you had your onesie completely soaking wet by the time we left. It's so funny because you suck on your little hands and get slobber all over your face. Mommy gets fool of your lovely drool - on the shoulder, and all over my legs when you let out the big long drools that fall down. You are just so happy when you're playing like this that you don't even notice your continuous chin flooding.
